Invitation to participate in NEISTE 2nd life gathering
Tuesday Evening May 13
starting at 7:30 pm
Last night I met with a couple of representatives from Vita Learn at our NEISTE property on ISTE island. We have decided that the first move is to begin holding some form of regular meeting by NEISTE representatives at our property and together begin to set up what and how we want to use this asset.
We FULLY understand that many of you have never been into 2nd life and that this will be a new experience. I encourage you to give it a shot by getting a very helpful hand in getting started and coming to the meeting on the 13th.
David Wells and Raymond Ballou (Vermont educators) will be setting up an agenda of events but for the most part, this is planned as being an Intro for the Newbies. It will include assistance to first time folks to be able to move around and perform basic functions with your Avatar, a gathering at which we will have a general help session and further explanation of 2nd life, and then for those interested, perhaps a limited tour of the types of resources that are available in the other world.
David will be sending out an information sheet explaining system requirements etc., how to set up your account BEFORE the 16th, How to notify him of your 2nd life name so we can meet you at the entrance and help you move to the meeting area,and other info to help folks get started and not get lost.
I would REALLY LOVE to have at least one rep from each of the affiliates show up. This is a fantastic opportunity to try out and see a media that is getting VERY heavy use by some VERY influential educators (bumping into Alan November or Kathy Schrock's avatar is not all that unusual. I think you will be VERY surprised at what resources are available and how this whole world is being used. I know I NEVER suspected it was this rich.
